On March 17, Sean Tillmann took a continued airing with his fiance Laura Hauser. He had aloof alternate to Minneapolis afterwards his bout with his bandage Heart Bones was cut abbreviate due to the pandemic.
As a favor to some of Tillmann’s artisan friends, Hauser had been authoritative hand-drawn acknowledgment cards she beatific to admirers who purchased albums or merchandise.
“People were absolutely admiring them and she was accepting afflicted with requests,” said Tillmann, who annal as Har Mar Superstar. “She’s a abecedary and she didn’t accept time to go on this art bender. So we started brainstorming.”
That’s aback the abstraction hit — they’d accomplish a Aboriginal Avenue-themed appearance book, advertise it online and accord 60 percent of the gain to the Twin Cities Music Community Trust, a nonprofit run by Aboriginal Avenue that helps those in the bounded music industry in times of crisis.
When Tillmann and Hauser got home from their walk, they started alive immediately. They begin two bounded artists — Stacey Combs and Michael Gaughan — who would advice Hauser ample the book with illustrations. The aboriginal assets accustomed that night. Six canicule later, the completed book went to the printer. On March 25 — aloof eight canicule afterwards the brace dreamed it all up — the books went on auction via coloringbooksforacause.com.
“I anticipation we’d advertise a few hundred and, if this affair goes well, maybe we’d hit 1,000,” Tillmann said.
Within a day, the brace had awash added than 1,700.
“People are trapped inside, they charge activities,” he said. “What bigger way to accumulate everybody occupied? You’re acknowledging a acceptable account by, as Laura said, accepting your accouchement blush in Greg Norton’s mustache.”
With all alive accessible performances on hold, those who assignment in the Twin Cities music industry — musicians, booking agents, DJs, bouncers, tech engineers, bartenders — are disturbing to amount out what to do during a crisis that’s larboard them after work.

And it’s not aloof him, he works with six added DJs who instantly absent their accessible gigs.
“Everything from March into April into May and now into June is accepting pushed back. I’ve spent a lot of time abandoning and apathetic things for my company. That’s been my days.”
In one ablaze spot, Rudh’s Thursday night Transmission radio appearance on 89.3 The Current has angled in breadth to two hours. He’s accumulating the playlists from home, though, so he won’t be on the air to babble amid tracks. “I’m absorption on uptempo and fun ball music,” he said. “People are attractive for fun and ball and joy in general. Music can do that for people.”
Plenty of Rudh’s accompany and admirers accept appropriate he try alive a Transmission ball night, although he’s captivation off for now. “I charge to amphitheater aback with my company’s advocate to accomplish abiding it’s doable,” he said. “I don’t appetite to booty a adventitious as this is my career.”
